(ගණ companies or classes, ඊශ Lord), the god of wisdom, son of Siva and පාර්වතී. His image in H. temples is that of a short, fat man with an elephant's head. He is appealed to and worshipped as the remover of obstacles in all undertakings and compositions. He is chief of the various classes of subordinate deities who are Siva's attendants.
